1. Ultra-Ever Dry Waterproof Coating
Ultra-Ever Dry is a hydrophobic coating which, applied correctly, will repel water and waterproof anything.
Scientific proof: Here’s a video showing how a cell phone spray sprayed with Ultra-Ever Dry completely submerged in water still works.

4. Senz: The Stormproof Umbrella
“Designed
with the principles of aerodynamics, senz can handle speeds of up to
60km/h without inverting and does not compromise on the look and feel.”
It’s also extended in the rear to protect you from wind and angled
rainfall.

Air umbrellaThe Air umbrella uses "forced air" instead of a fabric to make a canopy that keeps people dry from the rain. This gadget was created by inventor Chuan Wang, China. There is an ON/OFF button at the base. The handle contains a lithium ion battery to power the fan inside. The head has a motor and fan that forces the air up and out. Air is drawn from the bottom and is expelled at the top to blast a canopy of air. There is also a controller dial to adjust the size of the canopy. The size of the canopy can be expanded up to one meter in diameter and can provide room for two people. The product is in development phase and is set for release in December 2015. This cool gadget will be coming in three different styles with varying sizes and battery life to meet different needs.
The Window Socket
This product is intended to enable you to use electricity freely and conveniently in a space restricted in the use of electricity, such as in a plane , a car, and outdoors.
Read about this today. Didn’t really remembered being mentioned anywhere. Thought, I should mention it here.
Edit 1 :-Some more things that I found.
Fun caution signs shaped like slippery bananas.
Recoiling Socket In The Wall
There these sources have even more cool of such cool stuff.
3.
Panoramic
Camera Ball. Throw it up in the air, and when it reaches its peak, it
takes a picture out of each of its 36 cameras, and you can go onto a
computer to view the panoramic pictures
This would be so cool for dancing at a wedding reception!
4.”Load
carrier for labour” is a great design innovation. It can be used as a
backpack, as an overhead load carrier and as a trolley.
Designed and created by Vikram Dinubhai Panchal of NID Ahmedabad, it costs just Rs 300 (Less than 6 USD).
If scaled up, it can definitely save a lot of backaches!
This product won Core77 best design award in 2012.
5.
Hemorrhage
is a leading cause of death on the battlefield. The Xstat syringe can
seal a gunshot wound in 15 seconds by injecting the soldier with special
sponges.
Realtime touch neuroprosthetic.
Professor
Silvestro Micera and his team from École Polytechnique Fédérale de
Lausanne (EPFL) Switzerland have developed a mind-controlled prosthetic
hand able to transmit sensations back to the user. Dennis Aabo Sørensen,
who lost his hand in an accident nine years ago, was able to feel
different kinds of pressure with three fingers of his new hand.
The
device is formed from a single polythiophene wire placed between the
tip of a scanning tunneling microscope and a gold surface. It emits
light only when the current passes in a certain direction. The Institut
de Physique et de Chimie des Matériaux de Strasbourg have taken us one
step closer to molecular computing.
And finally, the one i’ve been waiting for:
Dishes that clean themselves.
Developed by researchers at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, these dishes have a special coating that “repels
water, dirt, and oil almost like a magnet, so you don’t have to use
anything to clean it off,” says Hanna Billqvist, one of the designers.
This coating already exists in other forms, chiefly in paint and certain
fabrics, but this is the first time it’s planned to be food safe. This
could be a novel way to reduce your carbon footprint because you’ll be
using less water and electricity to heat a bowl of water everyday. Over a
year that would really mount up. Another practical use would be in
commercial kitchens, in particular coating the walls.
SCiO reads the chemical make-up of materials. It is the first molecular sensor that fits in the palm of your hand.
It
scans physical objects and sends relevant information to your
smartphone instantly. SCiO can scan food, medicines, and plants, oil and
fuels, plastics and wood. Eventually, it will be able to scan almost
any physical material as the database improves.
What Can I Do With It Today?
- Get nutritional facts about different kinds of food: salad dressings, sauces, fruits, cheeses, and much more.
- Know the well being of your plants.
- See how ripe a melon is, through the peel!
- Upload and tag the spectrum of any material on Earth to our database. Even yourself!
How SCiO Works?
SCiO is based on the proven near-IR spectroscopy method. The physical
basis for this material analysis method is that each type of molecule
vibrates in its own unique way, and these vibrations interact with light
to create a unique optical signature.
It
includes a light source that illuminates the sample and an optical
sensor called a spectrometer that collects the light reflected from the
sample. The spectrometer breaks down the light to its spectrum, which
includes all the information required to detect the result of this
interaction between the illuminated light and the molecules in the
sample.
To
deliver relevant information in real time, SCiO communicates the
spectrum of the sample to a smartphone via Bluetooth, which in turn
forwards it to a cloud-based service for review. Advanced algorithms
utilize an updatable database to analyze the spectrum within
milliseconds and deliver information about the analyzed sample back to
the user’s smartphone in real time.
SCiO – Technical Specs
How Far Can This Technology Go?
Every time you use SCiO, you are helping to build a database of
knowledge about the stuff around us. So when you use SCiO, you are
making everyone smarter. The bigger the SCiO community gets, the more
data it will have about different materials and this goes right back to
the users.
The possibilities of SCiO
applications are endless. In the future you can use SCiO to measure
properties of cosmetics, clothes, flora, soil, jewels and precious
stones, leather, rubber, oils, plastics, and even your pet!
